When Did We Forget to Care?

When Did We Forget to Care?

The other day, I was on the London metro—packed with people as usual—when a young mom got on, visibly pregnant, with two little kids in tow. One was around four, the other barely a year old. She was struggling, standing in the crowded space with no one offering a seat. I was already standing myself, so I politely asked a few seated people if they’d mind giving her their spot. Every answer I got was a cold “no.” The mom just smiled and said her stop was nearby, even though she looked exhausted.

When her stop came, I helped her carry her bags outside the station, but I couldn’t shake the frustration. I’ve heard so many people say things like, “It’s her fault, she’s the one pregnant.”

But how could we lose so much empathy? We were all once children needing care, and many of us have mothers who might’ve struggled just like she did.

At Broken Mansion, we believe in a world where kindness and respect matter, where people look out for each other.

Because if we don’t, who will?
